Fifteen individuals from local businesses undertook training with a view to gaining the Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene which is endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

The course was organised and delivered by the ABA's own Business Support Manager, Anwar Choudhry who is an accredited CIEH trainer to meet the needs of local business community and assist them to comply with their legal obligations. The aim of the course is also to improve the overall hygiene standards in the catering and food sectors.

Course Overview
Rigorous enforcement of food legislation is important but is not, in itself, sufficient to prevent food poisoning. Food poisoning is normally caused by ignorance or negligence and consequently most experts in food hygiene believe that a reduction in the high level of food poisoning cases will only be achieved by the education of food handlers.
